I think she is weak and end up believing she deserves everything she gets! But the appeal of Riders stretched far beyond equine enthusiasts and the country set who inspired it — even if those people were its first and staunchest fans. But, that being said, I enjoyed the soap opera-like drama.
A lot of horses and the true feelings involved as well as the heart break that is also a part of the equine life. I came late to Jilly Cooper, but reading this book took me right back to my teenage years in the s and the days when show-jumping on the telly was compulsive viewing.
The most tragic moment is not the attempted suicide of a kind-hearted character towards the novel’s end, but the sudden death of a beloved horse after a stunning display on the show-jumping course. If you enjoy the occasional soap opera, if you love sexual drama and catfights, if your summer just isn’t complete without a big, ridesr, trashy novel, put in your library request for Riders now. I think Fen rlders young and did stupid young people things but I liked her at the Olympics.

An entertaining and fast moving read, accurate about horses and about the wealthier, privileged people who use them! Thanks risers telling us about the problem. After Rupert had come, with that splendid driving flourish of staccato thrusts which reminded Helen of the end of a Beethoven symphony, he fell into a deep sleep. Cooper has a knack for making tiders the most sympathetic characters irritating. Overall I enjoyed it, but I didn’t love it.

Riders is just simply a glorious romp set around show jumping, with some perfect characters Rupert Campbell-Black, now a fictional icon, is still JUST as brilliant no matter how many times you “meet” himthis book is funny, sexy, exciting and SUCH a marvellous reading experience that I’m sure that before I’m done with life I shall have read it a few more times.
