I have yet to read a William King bo This book actually a collection of the first 3 books in this series is incredible! The chemistry between the two is pretty good and Gotrek is always making me smile with his one liners but you could flick to any of the stories and not need to know any background information.

This was – and continues to be a great suprise – in both content and style it combines much of the best attributes of Fritz Liebers Fahfrd and the Grey Mouser series. Specifically, he was originally written to be a Gold wizard but this was later retconned in ‘Elfslayer’ to being a wizard of the Light College and using the Wind of Hysh. It ends on a clif hanger, they still need to get back home and they have no idea a sneaky Skaven is hidden on board, slowly going mad as he has been tainted by warpstone.

I constantly looked forward to what trouble they found themselves in next! I might be a bit overly jaded on this particular book because I was told it was good by someone I trusted, so I kept reading it. The equivalent of an 80’s action movie; sometimes a little dumb but fully capable of making your afternoon enjoyable. Yes, this is Warhammer and being a fan of the universe, after seeing so many fans rave about this series I had to pick up this collection of the first few volumes.
